Fire Safety Awareness
Specifically for those personnel who have a designated fire responsibility.
Such as Fire Warden/Marshall working in industry, commerce or the public sector.
Course Aims
To provide participants with a greater awareness of the threat posed by fire and the actions to be taken upon the discovery of a fire.
Learning Objectives / Course Outline
On completion of the training successful candidates should be able to:
- Understand the nature of the fire and how it spreads.
- Distinguish between different types of extinguishers and their correct applications.
- Execute their duties as a fire warden / Marshall.
- Tackle small fires with confidence.
Programme Outline
The course includes sessions on:
- Fire Safety Legislation.
- The Nature of Fire & Combustion Principles.
- Fire Procedures.
- Duties of the Fire Warden / Marshall.
- Classes of Fire & Types of Extinguishers
- The selection and use of fire extinguishers.
- Practical exercise using various extinguishers.
Course Duration
1/2 day.
Assessments
Completion of a multiple choice assessment paper concluding the course
Note: Attendees should wear suitable outdoor clothing if they are to participate in the practical fire fighting exercise. Nylon, plastics etc. are not appropriate materials as they may result in injury if subjected to heat extremes. Attendees who have a history of asthma should also advise the course tutor prior to commencement.
Course Fees
Open courses are £60 plus VAT but inclusive of exam fees/papers/books. Payable before attendance. Prices will be quoted on an in-house course.
