Basic Ladder Safety Awareness Course

This course is intended for operatives and their supervisors or management.
Any operative who is expected to inspect, use and manage the safe use of ladders during the course of their work. The course remains current and follows the new ‘Working at Height’ Regulations 2005.

Course Aims

To train operatives, supervisors and management in the knowledge and skills required to identify the correct ladders and to safely use ladders in the workplace.

Learning Objectives / Course Outline

At the end of the course each delegate will have sufficient knowledge and those skills deemed essential to use ladders safely: these include,

  • The current legislative framework placing duties upon employers/employees
  • Reference to the ladder accident statistics
  • The importance of safe working procedures
  • The selection of the right access equipment for the task
  • The ability to inspect, prior to use, and identify common defects, plus
    reporting procedures
  • Safe use of ladders and the benefits of levelling/stabilising devices

Course Duration

Approximately 3 hours.

Certification

70% of the assessment is a practical inspection of ladders by the candidates while the other 30% is a multiple choice question paper. Those successfully completing the course will receive a certificate.

Course Fees

£50 plus VAT but inclusive of exam fees/papers/books. Payable before attendance.

This course is only available as an in-house course on client's premises.
